Easter 2022

Poetry and Christ’s Passion Panel

Along with the Dean of King’s Chapel, Stephen Cherry, Theology, Modernity, and Literature committee member and poet Malcolm Guite leads a public discussion with contemporary St. Lucian poet John Robert Lee and contemporary British poet Hillary Davies. Together, the three poets discuss poetry’s unique ability to reveal and expand the power and meaning of Christ’s Passion. Throughout the discussion, each poet reads excerpts of original work to illustrate their theological claims. The event concludes with a public Q&A, during which the poets answer questions regarding the vocation of theological writing and the relationship between the written and spoken word of God. The event is attended by members of the DITA-Cambridge partnership and the broader Cambridge public as a part of the 2022 Easter at King’s festival.
