Easter 2022

Betrayal and Devotion

As a part of the Holy Week 2022 events, a collection of musicians, instrumentalists, and contemporary poets from Duke Divinity School and King’s College Cambridge presents a program of word and song reflecting the Passion of Christ. Inspired by the biblical stories of Judas’s betrayal and the devotion of the woman who bathed Jesus’s feet, the evening’s repertoire contrasts a kiss of betrayal with a kiss of devotion. The performers include players from the Boston Symphony Orchestra, acclaimed American soprano Awet Andemicael, and instrumentalists from Duke and Cambridge Universities, all directed by DITA Director Jeremy Begbie. Program music features works by J. S. Bach, Telemann, Arvo Pärt, Sir James MacMillan, and DITA Director Jeremy Begbie. Featured poets include Malcolm Guite, John Robert Lee, and Debbie Whitton Spriggs.
